Fishing Noosa, Sept 2007 Fishing Report

Sunshine Coast Fishing Part 1

September 2007 started with some pretty ordinary weather.
We got out on the first, and mostly caught Sharks, which, as much as they are fun, was pretty disappointing considering all the rain we had had. See bottom left Photograph for one of the larger ones.
After this trip, we couldn't get out again until the 13th, due to the weather.....but it was worth the wait!
We left Noosa Heads at 630am for a Half day Fishing trip, and headed to Halls reef to have a quick look. Gary, our deckhand had caught some nice snapper off main beach in Noosa a few days before, so we didn't think we would need to go too far. We didn't even anchor at Halls.
We headed out to a spot on North Reef that we hadn't been to for some time. And it didn't take long to make it worth the trip.
Ed Barry nearly went in the water fighting the Pearl Perch on the left. It measured 54cm and fought till the end.
Soon after Peter Miglis hooked on to the Snapper on the right.  It measured 62cm.
Meanwhile, we had Tuna jumping all around us, and when one of our floaters went off, there was a few minutes of excitement.  The Tuna didn't seem to want our baits, as the floater had hooked another Snapper.
After catching a few moses perch, Parrot, Pearl Perch, and Squiry Snapper, things started to quieten off. So we had a move.

We moved out to another spot that we hadn't been to for a while.
The fishing here started off quietly, but before too long we had a result. Marcus hooked on to the Sweetlip on the left. It measured 52 cm, and put a smile on his face.
While I was contemplating another move, Michael hooked on to what we thought was a freight train, and changed my mind. The Parrot (Or Venus Tuskfish) on the right was a monster at 58cm, and didn't stop fighting until it was boated.
The decision made, we stayed at this spot until it was time make the run in before the tide locked us out.
It was a good days fishing, and gave us an indication as to what the flood rain had done for us.
